Much as I like this story I must admit up front: the mummies, fun and funny, but not so scary.
Fortunately they are but a side show.
This is the story I checked out on a bit of a lark to re-acquaint myself with Doctor Who, and it resulted in my little journey to watch everything Who. The villain, Sutekh, is a compelling world-destroyer powered by an amazing vocal performance. He has surprising presence for a guy who mostly sits in a chair (watch for the production person arm that shows up behind the chair at one point). A shocking and rather graphic death for a children's show happens right up front and really caught my attention; the story gallops on from there.
